8 Best Tiki Bars in Houston

list of the best tiki bars in houston texas

Houston is known as one of the world’s homes of the largest and the most impressive medical centers. There are the theatre and arts, its heat and humidity, the museums, the John Space Centers (NASA), its low cost of living, Houston Zoo, and literally many other places that make Houston popular and relevant.

All about the arts here and there, right? How about the city’s nightlife? Do they have bars, pubs, and fun times, too?

Well, according to my research, there are, actually. In fact, you can never get bored or have dull moments while in Houston, Texas, for that matter. They have something for every taste… and we’re about to unravel some of those treasures right here, right now. 😉

1. High and Dry

Chic, spacious bar with a focus on rum-based drinks, happy hours, and DJs!

High and Dry is a rum bar located in Houston, Texas. They’re ALL ABOUT THE RUM.

They currently stock about 200 hand-selected rums from all over the world and offer everything– from flights to original cocktails, to classic tiki drinks.

They ensure that they provide nothing but the highest quality, exquisite cocktails in town.

The bar and stool area looks sophisticated enough to have a drink or two. Their menu revolves around beers, specialty & classic cocktails, shots, and wine & bubbles.

Personally, I’m a sucker for the aesthetic of the place, so High and Dry here would really pass the “vibe” for me, in fact, regular customers are beyond happy with the overall service the place provides that makes them keep coming back for more.

Unfortunately, due to the threat of the virus, the establishment is temporarily closed but will be back to operating first thing next year (January 1st, 2021 to be precise).

A tiki bar located in Richmond Ave that serves cocktails with ingredients like rum and coconut water alongside wine and beer, plus a LOT of bites, too!

Diners go here to have some chill night out alone, or with friends and families.

The Toasted Coconut is a tiki, island-inspired restaurant that will give you both the classic tiki drinks and exceptional house cocktails paired with addictive bar bites, snacks, and shareable cuisine.

Apart from that, the place is labeled to be one of the great choices for some frozen drinks and sumptuous meals you can savor any time between 4 PM to 10 PM on Tuesdays-Thursdays, 4 PM till 12 MN on Fridays, oh, morning operations every Saturdays at 10 AM until 12 MN, and finally, 10 AM till 10 PM every Sundays. 4. Under the Volcano

A colorful Mexican-inspired hangout with a covered patio & a varied selection of frozen mixed drinks!

How about some Day of the Dead-themed bar? Huh, and you thought you’ve seen it all.

The bar has been serving the people of Houston Texas since 1989 and was named after the classic novel by Malcolm Lowry.

The decor, art, and furniture of the place were all purchased in Mexico that reflects the Mexican holiday “Dia de Los Muertos”.

The menu, on the other hand, has a collection of tacos including salmon, Cubano, chicken tinga, and other Mexican favorites.

Only fresh-squeezed juices and fresh herbs are incorporated to create drinks like Strawberry Basil Margarita, Paloma, and others.

They also have an eclectic menu to choose from if you just want something to chow down, but I’d bet it would be hard not to order a shot or two. Am I right?

Gourmet burgers, pub grub & cocktails in lively, neon-accented surroundings with outdoor seating!

Palm Spring-inspired nook! I’m digging it.

Present Company is a locally-owned patio bar where good times happen. The vibrant patio offers a tropical oasis vibe where bright colors, invigorating craft, and thoroughly prepared courses provide an amiable, and quick getaway anytime you need.

The place has a variety of daily specials and a weekend brunch, so you have plenty of time to think about when you want to spend your leisure time, and have some real fun, relaxing time.

Regarding the cocktails, the customers refer to these punches as “a sip of heaven”. There, that’s all I was capable of coming up with, so just go on and book yourself some company. 😉

6. Tikila’s

A patio and hut-themed bar ready to snatch your tequila-loving hearts!

Another super fun place to waste a few hours of your time, but who are we kidding, it wouldn’t be put to waste with this place.

They have a great variety of food and tropical drinks at reasonable prices, and the place itself is an overall gem, if I may be so bold.

What makes the place even cooler are the huts that give off the vibe of a beachfront which, I think, is what most people are after. It has this atmosphere that would totally blow off all your predicaments and just want to wander off while sipping an exquisite tequila.

Their operating days and hours are the following:

Mon-Thurs (3 AM-10 PM)
