7 Best Tiki Bars in New York City

curated list of tiki bars in new york city

New York City is THE home of multiple breathtaking settings to date, such as Wall Street, United Nations, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge, and literally many awe-inspiring places in the world.

If the aforestated places stirred you up just a little bit, then be combat-readied to be blown away by the tiki lounges and/or bars this city provides!

Check out these top Tiki bars we’ve picked out to keep you company for the time being while wandering the place. 😉

1. The Polynesian

The taste of Polynesian descent!

The ultimate aphorism of tiki that gives out a 21st-century Tiki adventure and vibe with its lavish rooftop setting and decor that will totally melt any ancient-loving hearts.

…and don’t get me started with the main event– DRINKS, that taste precisely like you’re in heaven sprinting to the core of oblivion.

Now, that’s a metaphor, but you get what I’m trying to aim here, yeah?

They offer an ample variety of drinks that literally anyone who wants to treat their livers can totally opt for, such as wines, beers, frozen drinks (e.g: piña colada, blue Hawaii), cocktails, and the “Tiki classics”.

The place is operating on Mondays to Thursdays at 4:00 PM-12 MN, Fridays & Saturdays from 4:00 PM-2 AM, and Sundays from 4:00 PM-12:00 MN. Unfortunately, though, The Polynesian is currently closed due to the Covid threats but will get back to giving people some fun times soon.

2. My Friend Duke

Not your typical NYC cocktail bar!

My Friend Duke offers a luxuriant and light environment to perfectly go along with the cocktails and noble food. This patrician place exists to sweep cocktail-loving people off their feet, but also to get them inebriated, I guess.

It has 15-foot ceilings, a large skylight, and a mezzanine (which only available for private events). They do deliver and are open every day of the week (Sun-Mon) from 12 PM-4 AM. Cool, huh?

Meanwhile, the reviews about the place are, quite frankly, just the naked truth, so to speak. The food and the environment give off that friendly and relaxing mood that makes the place even more “mingle-worthy” if that’s an appropriate statement. Oh well…

3. 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar

Perfect for your taste bud’s cravings for any time AND day!

The largest outdoor rooftop garden & penthouse lounge in New York to date! This place is perfect for any occasion, days, food & drink cravings, and whenever you can think of!

They have a wide variety of food and drink menu for anyone that’s breathing. Like, literally. 230 Fifth has food for everyone, and yes, even for picky eaters. This place has got it covered.

They deliver and are operating ALL WEEK: 3:00 PM-12 MN Mondays through Thursdays, 3:00 PM-2:00 AM every Fridays, 12:00 PM-2:00 AM on Saturdays, and Noon to Midnight on Sundays.

Apart from the food, the place is IG-worthy which, I think, visitors are after its scenery. And oh, did I mention that they also have live music for everyone to have some solemn nights with? I didn’t? Well, now there it is in the open. 😉 See what I did there?

4. Broken Shaker

Another rooftop sanctuary with sweeping views of the city!

The place offers a wide-ranging menu of drinks and foods. Oh, and did you know that restaurants can be awarded, too? Yeah, like Oscars and stuff? Well, our friend here [Broken Shaker] has won the Tales of the Cocktail Best American Hotel Bar.

That alone is already a bragging right, huh?

Their adept bartenders make nothing but the best of the best. Perfectly crafted elixirs, infusions, and syrups, paired with fragrant herbs, freshly pressed juices, and other vital ingredients make the best cocktails there is.

Broken Shaker is temporarily closed at the moment, but is scheduled to re-open on December 31st, 2020. To give you an idea about their operating hours: they’re open Sundays through Wednesdays & closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The reason? I don’t know just yet, but I’m sure it’s for the same reason as weekends rest days. Right?

5. Nurse Bettie

The longest-running weekly burlesque show in NYC!

You’ve caught that right in the tail! This place is quite the literal sense of “FUN”, if I may. Their to-die-for & to-go cocktails can make anyone keep coming back for the place– the weekly shows included!

But of course, you’re wondering about the legal name of this haven… well, the place was inspired by the “Queen of Pinups”, Betty Page from the ‘50s, hence the Burlesque weekly shows.

The place also features an eclectic menu of drinks, special mention to the SPECIALTY COCKTAILS that regular visitors are going crazy about!

Indoor and outdoor dining is also available EVERY DAY. Yep, given the threat of the Corona, the establishment has gone straight-up strict with the health rules and regulations.

Their operating hours are 4 PM-12 MN on Mondays through Thursdays, followed by an earlier opening on Fridays through Sundays at 2 PM-12 MN. Roger that?

6. Bar Dough

A place for customizable pizza & gluten-free munchies!

How about some personalized pizzas? Ya dig, huh? Well, BarDough is just the right place for that. Their thin crust ones are made in an authentic fired brick oven.

Moreover, each pizza is paired with a specialty cocktail, thus according to the official website, you MUST order food to get yourself some alcoholic beverage. Now that’s what I call a clever marketing strategy! I mean, come on, pizza and wine??? It honestly couldn’t get any better, in my opinion!

The reviews, on the other hand, are making it more intriguing to book the place right at this second, too! Phew!

They’re operating all days of the week: 4 PM-10 PM every Mon-Wed and 12 PM-11 PM on Thurs-Sun. And oh, they also deliver right at your doorsteps! 😉

7. Bunton’s World Famous

The best Piña Coladas in Brooklyn!

90’s babies, where y’all at?!? This amazing bar by a famous musical artist Kareem Bunton is rocking Brooklyn all over again!

The place is nothing short of astonishing as it is all things LIQUOR! Plus, it claims to make the BEST Piña Coladas there is in town!

The setting is one of the best milieus anyone could ever have fun and succumb to the night time in.

And… because the owner is a musician, what’s even cooler than having some cool music to pump up the crowd, am I right?

The place is open 7 days a week (Mon-Sun) from 4:00 PM ‘til 4:00 AM the next day. 12 prolonged hours of entertainment & fun it is!

Now I’m pretty sure I’ve made myself clear that NYC indeed is the greatest city of all time, huh? Given all these fun activities that you can do & places you can go to, man, that is something anyone in the world could never trade for anything, including myself, quite frankly. 😛
