Best Tiki Bars in Chicago

list of best tiki bars in chicago

“Eventually, I think Chicago will be the most beautiful great city left in the world.” ―Frank Lloyd Wright

Known for being the “Windy City” and one of the largest cities in the U.S, yep, that is Chicago.

You can do so much in this place, including, but not limited to: enjoy the serene views from Skydeck Chicago, have some fun times on the Chicago Riverwalk, try the Chicago-style pizza, and a lot more.

But, of course, you’ve come here for only one reason, am I right? It’s to search for the best bars to hop into for tonight? Well, search no more, we’ve got it right here! 🙂

Buckle up, and let’s go!

1. Lost Lake

Tiki bar in festive tropical digs with a thatched roof & booths, multiple varieties of rum & Asian bites!

If you want to get lost for the night, this place is the perfect destination for ya.

Lost Lake is a tropical cocktail bar located in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.

They once dedicated their service to solely providing mini-vacations through “wildly-garnished” cocktails, but they are now pouring all those warm-weather vibes into a pretty bottle of cocktails for people to enjoy at the comfort of their homes.

They had won tons of awards. Of course, they did. Ugh. I also personally love the Boho interior, if that’s the correct term for the theme. But overall, I would love to spend some wild yet alone time in this place!

Lots of people find the Lost Lake “cute” and just one of the best walk-tail bars in town. I couldn’t agree more, though. With the vibe and the service they provide, it would feel as though you’re in a magical sort of place.

Anyhoo, just save the following details for your own sake. 😉

2. Kubo Chicago

A comfortable spot for traditional Filipino cuisine & burgers with beer, wine, and oh, a terrace!

I was personally kind of stoked to write about this guy! Being a Filipino myself, I would actually choke a mosquito to experience the service of this place.

A “Bahay-Kubo” or Nipa Hut is a traditional native Filipino stilt house that symbolizes the culture of the Philippines.

Having said that, Kubo Chicago represents different Filipino recipes to commemorate our tradition. We, Filipinos are known for our hospitality. We like cooking different food for people– it’s how we show our warm reception.

Moving on to the restaurant, well, the menu is jampacked with almost all of the top dishes in the Philippines including the “pancit”, Lechon kawaliadobo, sisig, and a lot more mouth-watering courses. I’m literally drooling over here!

Apart from that (animal lovers, eyes here!), Kubo has a pet-friendly area perfect for diners who love to bring their pets along. This is just the perfect location by far. I am not being biased! A pet-friendly establishment is always a plus for me. 😀

Of course, they have great drinks like wines and beers, too! We love beers, although it makes any human being grow their bellies, beers are just the right companion for any course. It’s my Filipino self talking. LOL, please move along. Hehe!

Their operating hours: 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays through Fridays, and 12 NN till 9 PM on weekends (Sat-Sun). Closed on Tuesdays!

3. Maya Del Sol

A hip, lively spot starring Latin American meals, inventive cocktails & patio dining!

For over 14 years in the food industry, a family-owned restaurant Maya Del Sol managed to keep the hype going, and the heat flaming.

They have been providing their guests with authentic Latin-American cuisine and hand-crafted margaritas in a vigorous and dynamic environment.

The food is a mixture of bold and innovative flavors from Mexico and Central & South America with recipes that have been handed down for generations.

The beverage game, on the other hand, is just as strong as their food game. They incorporate an extensive margarita list and a variation of creative cocktails alongside a brief wine and beer list that pivots seasonally.

Patio for a restaurant setting has been always a HELL YES-GO for a lot of outdoor-loving diners. I would totally give it a try if I could. I love me some solemnity!

4. Proxi

Chic stop for global street food & cocktails in an architectural setting with dining room & lounge!

Simply one of the most elegant-looking diner I could possibly think of! Proxi just gives off that refines vibe that would make any customer sit still and finish their food and drinks in a calm state.

It’s not a repugnant thing at all, aright? This place is for those who want to have their dinner dates in a pristine setting, munching on some sophisticated meals while sipping some suave beverage. How ‘bout that?

In light of the health protocols due to the Covid, Proxi has taken every precautionary measure and had followed safe procedures to give the customers the safety and fun times they all deserve.

I’m guessing you’re getting a little agitated to know more about this oh, so beautiful palace, huh? Well, the details are in my hand & I will hand them to you right about now. 😉

5. Same Same

A funky setting for Thai dishes, snacks & fried chicken with signature drinks, wine & craft beer!

Same same, but different from other restaurants out there!

At first, there was the Filipino resto, then there’s the Thai one. Asians represent, indeed! LOL

The place serves vegan options you or your vegan friends will surely love such as the Green Curry, Phat Thai, Phat Kee Mao, Buddha Bowl, and a lot more vegan options!

They have reasonable prices for the food and drinks that, I think, what draws people closer to the place.

Drinks include cocktails, beers, and wines!

Reading the reviews just makes my mouth water from exhaustion (mostly from the fact that I couldn’t get a bite right at this second). The service and staff are both awesome as that of the meals and booze. Overall a 100% guaranteed great experience for anyone!

They’re open every Mondays from 5 PM till 9 PM, Tuesdays through Thursdays from 5 PM to 10 PM, 5 PM to 11 PM on Fridays, a little early on Saturdays (3 PM to 11 PM), and another early operation at 3 PM till 9 PM every Sunday!

6. Au Cheval

A diner-style bar and restaurant with a passion for eggs!

I was caught a little off guard just as you were, I think. Eggs? Huh. Let’s see.

Au Cheval elevates traditional diner fare. Visitors/guests can luxuriate in dishes ranging from chopped chicken liver and roasted bone marrow to the traditional sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and all things eggs.

The bar game showcases nothing but powerful, classic cocktails and a strong beer list that offers a vast range of selections. The vintage interior of the place will make anyone want to stay for a few hours to just contemplate and drown from booze like no one’s watching.

Apart from the main courses, Au Cheval also serves desserts and whatnot. I think this place has pretty much everything to last anyone a day or two of drinking and celebrating, but of course, it doesn’t operate 24/7, duh, which leads us to the performing hours of the place…

Well, they’re open 7 DAYS A WEEK from 11:30 AM till 8:30 PM. Lucky for you, huh? So, would you place your order now? 😉

A rustic Chinese eatery featuring innovative takes on homestyle recipes, plus sushi, ramen & cocktails!

Yet another family-owned place for Asian cuisine for you there, my friend!

This “hideout” claims to be the “hidden tropical gem” of Chicago. Truth be told, anything Hawaiian makes anything sound so much fun and timely!

AO Outpost serves luscious homestyle cuisines to satisfy anyone’s palates ever. The cuisines are ranging from East, Southeast Asia, and Polynesia.

The offers patio and tropical dine-in, take outs, deliveries, and curbside pick-up!

Another thing, the room has live entertainment from different local artists to make your nights even better! Dang Hawaii and their performers, of course!
